Zia Tech Repairs is proud to introduce Zia Retro Rescue, a reuse and restoration program for unwanted video game consoles, handheld systems, games, controllers, accessories, and related equipment.

Older gaming equipment is often discarded because it is outdated, damaged, incomplete, or no longer wanted. However, many of these systems can still be restored, upgraded, or used to keep other consoles working.

Zia Retro Rescue gives the community an alternative to throwing away a piece of gaming history.

What We Accept

We are interested in gaming equipment from nearly every generation, including:

  • Home video game consoles

  • Handheld gaming systems

  • Physical games, discs, and cartridges

  • Controllers and gaming accessories

  • Power supplies, cables, and adapters

  • Memory cards and storage accessories

  • Replacement parts and incomplete systems

  • Damaged, untested, or nonworking equipment

Items do not have to work to be considered. We may accept equipment that is functional, damaged, incomplete, untested, or completely nonworking.

Please contact us before bringing in especially large collections, arcade-style equipment, or unusually large items.

What Happens to Donated Items?

Each donated item will be evaluated to determine its condition and best possible use. Depending on the item, it may be:

  • Cleaned, tested, and refurbished

  • Repaired or restored

  • Upgraded or modified

  • Used as a source of parts for other repairs

  • Resold after restoration

  • Responsibly recycled when recovery is not practical

Not every item can be saved, but even a nonworking console may contain usable components that can help restore another system.

Our goal is to preserve usable gaming equipment, reduce electronic waste, and put restored systems into the hands of people who will appreciate them.

Donations Only at This Time

Zia Retro Rescue is currently a donation-based program. At this time, Zia Tech Repairs is not purchasing or offering trade-in credit for consoles, games, controllers, accessories, parts, or related equipment.

We are relying on community donations to establish the program and determine whether there is enough interest to support it long-term. If Zia Retro Rescue is successful, we may consider purchasing select items or offering trade-in options in the future.

Any future purchase or trade-in program would be separate from Zia Retro Rescue and evaluated on an individual basis. Items previously donated will remain donations and will not qualify for later payment or credit.

Want to Keep Your Console?

You do not have to donate an item to have it restored.

If you have a console, handheld system, controller, or game that you want to keep, Zia Tech Repairs may be able to provide paid repair or refurbishment services.

Depending on the type of item, its condition, and parts availability, services may include:

  • Internal and external cleaning

  • Diagnostic testing

  • Replacement of damaged or worn components

  • Disc-drive or cartridge-reader repairs

  • Controller and accessory repairs

  • Battery or storage replacement

  • Game cartridge cleaning or repair

  • Approved upgrades or modifications

  • Cosmetic or functional refurbishment

Vintage and retro repairs are subject to limitations. Replacement parts may be scarce, used, aftermarket, or no longer manufactured. Previous repair attempts, corrosion, physical damage, and component failure may also make a repair impractical or impossible.

We will evaluate the item and discuss available options, estimated costs, and any relevant risks before beginning authorized work. An evaluation does not guarantee that an item can be successfully repaired.

How to Donate or Request Service

Contact Zia Tech Repairs and provide:

  • The item’s manufacturer and model, if known

  • A description of its condition or the problem

  • A list of included accessories

  • Photographs, when possible

  • Whether you want to donate the item or request paid service

Once we review the information, we will let you know whether the item may be accepted and coordinate an appropriate drop-off or other available arrangements.

Donation Terms

Donations are voluntary and are accepted without payment, reimbursement, or trade-in credit unless a separate written agreement is made before the item is transferred.

Once accepted, donated items become the property of Zia Tech Repairs. Donated items may be repaired, restored, modified, upgraded, disassembled, used for parts, resold, or recycled at the discretion of Zia Tech Repairs. Acceptance does not guarantee that an item will be restored or resold.

Donors should remove any personal accounts, saved payment information, memory cards, storage devices, or other personal data when possible before donating an item. Zia Tech Repairs is not responsible for personal information left on donated equipment.

Zia Tech Repairs is a for-profit business. Donations made through Zia Retro Rescue are not charitable contributions and are not tax-deductible.
